What is PEMF Technology?

PEMF technology is Pulsed Electromagnetic Field technology, or a technology that utilizes pulses of electromagnetic energy to imbue the body’s cells with energy.

This technology is utilized in home health care and clinics alike, to treat a diverse number of conditions, including joint pain, depression, and bone and connective tissue remodeling.

So what exactly does PEMF technology entail?

The origins of PEMF technology are actually quite old, with roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine and magnet therapy.

These types of therapies—based on the availability of energy and the way it can be altered or manipulated by outside sources—formed the basis for the theory of PEMF technology, but it was not until just over a century ago, the advent of electricity and the discovery of electromagnetic fields that the field of PEMF therapy truly began to emerge.

The work of Tesla and his contemporaries paved the way for the use of energy fields in healing applications, and in the mid 1900s, PEMF therapy and other forms of energy therapy began to see widespread use and research, to support healing from maladies that were often hesitant to respond to standard methods of treatment.

PEMF technology began as a focused therapy, with targeted treatment options for muscle stimulation, bone healing, and bone remodeling, and has since grown to encompass a wide variety of research-based and anecdotal evidence to suggest applications in a variety of areas, including mental health, chronic fatigue, and arthritis.

PEMF has come to encompass so many different areas because it was investigated by NASA and other large-scale organizations in search of safe and effective ways to treat the myriad conditions that seemed to accompany the advent of new technology and lifestyle changes.

PEMF technology is a health practice that is recognized as wellness device, rather than a medical-grade device.

This distinction is an important one in understanding PEMF technology, because the assignation of a particular type of technology often indicates the nature of that technology.

Medical-grade devices, for instance, are often qualified as such because they pose some benefit and some risk.

An MRI machine, for instance, is a wonderful innovation that has allowed doctors to make diagnoses that would have been unheard of in centuries past.

Despite it being a truly remarkable innovation, if MRI machines are not handled with care and additional steps are not taken, they can prove extremely harmful, with repeated exposures in the absence of protective devices linked to cancer and even reproductive harm.

PEMF technology is a type of energy therapy that utilizes a copper coil and electricity to generate a pure electromagnetic field, which is then condensed into an application tool, and applied to the body.

During application, cells in the body are given additional energy, which allows them to work more effectively and complete their assigned tasks.

This means that cells and bodily systems responsible for the production of inflammatory and immune responses are better supported and better able to complete their designated functions.

Over time, PEMF technology is able to provide consistent, ongoing support for health.
