Q & A

Does PEMF Therapy Really Work?

Yes! Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy may seem like an up-and-comer in the therapy field, but it has been used successfully in both animal and human treatment for at least 40 years, and was actually created over 70 years ago.

In animals, PEMF has successfully been used to treat muscle and tendon injuries, and general muscle fatigue.

The use of PEMF in animal therapy is so successful, in fact, that many veterinary offices offer PEMF therapy for a host of ailments for domestic pets and livestock.

In humans, PEMF has been used to treat a host of conditions, some of which will be identified below.

PEMF continues to be approved for use in a variety of health conditions that cover a diverse span of issues.

PEMF therapy works for conditions such as general pain, improved wound healing after surgery, depression, arthritis, and more.

PEMF therapy can be used at home to treat chronic conditions, such as prolonged pain found in fibromyalgia patients, or individuals suffering from nerve damage, or may be delivered in an office setting, wherein a therapist identifies the most pressing issue at hand and applies pulses to that area.

The exposure, frequency, and wavelength can all impact the status of PEMF’s efficacy.

If too low a frequency is used, people may not see results, and if too high a frequency is used, people may experience discomfort.

The question of whether or not PEMF therapy works is dependent on several factors, including the individual machine being used, and the settings that are put in place.

A solid body of evidence continues to build to support the use of PEMF therapy in conventional and alternative medicine practices, with increasing numbers of western medicine practitioners turning to PEMF therapy to act as either a supplemental therapy, or a primary form of treatment.

PEMF therapy works on a cellular level.

The mechanism involved in delivering electromagnetic pulses communicates with the electrical impulses found in the human body.

These impulses improve communication between cells, which supports overall health and more effective function in virtually all aspects of the body.

This is because electrical signals are utilized in virtually all bodily communication, whether that communication is between the body’s hormone secretion and the central nervous system, or between cells responsible for mounting an immune response.

Far from being a mystical process, PEMF therapy is based on the idea that the body functions on electrical impulses and signatures—an idea that has long been established in medical and research literature.

PEMF therapy is a highly effective form of therapy that can be used to treat an array of conditions.

The many different uses of PEMF therapy and its efficacy and mechanisms of action have been identified in research articles found on many public databases and medical journals.

NASA, a trusted source of scientific innovation, has even conducted its own study on PEMF therapy, with results compelling enough to warrant PEMF use by NASA as a source of health maintenance and support for astronauts who are actively serving in orbit, or who have recently returned to the earth’s atmosphere.
